Overview

JSW Cement is the cement business of the JSW Group, one of India’s leading business conglomerates. Sodio built a sales management platform that brings the sales team’s day-to-day activity — visits, orders and targets — into one system, and turns it into a live view of performance for sales leadership.

Cement is a regional business. It is heavy relative to its value, so it sells close to where it is made, and demand rises and falls with construction activity and the seasons. That makes territory performance the thing leadership most needs to see: which regions are on plan, which are behind, and where the sales team’s effort is going.

The platform gives salespeople one workflow for their day — plan visits, record each meeting, capture orders and track progress against target — and gives leadership that same activity rolled up by territory and region, in real time

/// The Brief

JSW Cement needed a clear, current view of sales performance across its territories — live visibility of activity, orders and progress against target, region by region, rather than waiting for a report at the end of each period.

The brief was a platform the field sales team would use every day, feeding reliable data to leadership as it happened. As part of the JSW Group, it also had to meet the standard of security, reliability and consistency expected of any system inside one of India’s largest industrial groups.

/// Our Approach

We designed the platform around territories as well as individuals. Every visit and order is tied to a territory, so performance can be read at any level — a salesperson, a region, or the whole business — from the same underlying data.

For the field team, the core actions were kept fast. Recording a visit or capturing an order takes seconds, and reporting is built from that activity rather than added as a separate task. Data that depends on extra effort from the field is data that arrives late, or not at all.

For leadership, dashboards show targets against actuals by territory and region, updated as activity is recorded, so a region falling behind is visible while there is still time in the period to act. Role-based access keeps commercial data secure, and a consistent data model makes performance comparable across regions.

/// The Result

The result is a sales management platform that gives JSW Cement’s sales team one consistent way to plan and record their work, and gives leadership a live, territory-level view of performance.

Because every activity is tied to a territory, leadership can see which regions are on plan and which are behind while the period is still open, and direct effort where it is needed rather than explaining a shortfall afterwards.

Together with the platforms built for Nestlé and TATA TISCON, the project shows Sodio building sales systems for three well-known enterprise brands across consumer goods, steel and cement — with the same discipline behind each: simple enough for the field, and reliable enough for leadership to run the business on.
