Oil India Limited – Commercial Reporting Dashboard
An internal sales and commercial reporting dashboard built for Oil India Limited, bringing data from across the business into one trusted view so leadership can follow performance without waiting for figures to be compiled.
Overview
Oil India Limited is one of India’s national oil companies, exploring for and producing crude oil and natural gas. Sodio built an internal dashboard that brings the company’s sales and commercial data into a single view for leadership.
Commercial reporting in a business of this scale draws on many sources — sales volumes, revenue and other commercial data held across different systems and formats. The dashboard consolidates them, so leadership can see current performance in one place instead of across separate systems.
The emphasis throughout was trust in the numbers. A dashboard that leadership questions is a dashboard they stop using, so every figure traces back to its source, definitions are consistent across the organisation, and the same number means the same thing wherever it appears.

/// The Brief
Oil India’s leadership needed a clear, current view of sales and commercial performance. The figures existed, but they lived in different systems and formats, and bringing them together for review took time and effort every period.
The brief was an internal dashboard that consolidated this data into one trusted view — accurate enough for decisions at the most senior level, secure enough for commercially sensitive information, and built to the standard of reliability expected of a Government of India enterprise.
/// Our Approach
We started with the data rather than the charts. Before any screen was designed, we mapped where each figure came from, how it was calculated, and where definitions differed between teams. Agreeing what a number means is the hard part of commercial reporting; displaying it is the easy part.
The dashboard consolidates those sources into one model, with each metric defined once and used everywhere. Leadership can view performance at summary level and drill into the detail behind any figure, down to where it came from, so a question about a number can be answered from the dashboard itself.
Security and access were designed for commercially sensitive data from the start. Role-based access controls who sees what, and the platform was built to the reliability and data-handling standards expected inside a public sector enterprise.
/// The Result
The result is an internal commercial reporting dashboard that gives Oil India Limited’s leadership one consistent, current view of sales and commercial performance.
With the data consolidated and every metric defined once, review time goes on what the numbers mean rather than on reconciling them. Performance can be followed as it develops, and any figure can be traced back to its source.
Alongside Sodio’s sales platforms for Nestlé, TATA TISCON and JSW Cement, the project shows the same principle applied to a very different organisation: enterprise software earns its place when the people running the business trust what it tells them.
