/// INTRODUCTION

Sodio builds automotive software development covering ERP for manufacturers and parts distributors, dealership management systems, connected car and telematics platforms, vehicle marketplaces, rental and workshop software, plus automotive AI for damage assessment, predictive maintenance and valuation.

The constraint that shapes most automotive projects is data access — what the OEM API exposes, what the DMS contract permits, and what an aftermarket device can actually read. That is settled before design, not during build.

/// WHAT MAKES AUTOMOTIVE DIFFERENT

Data Access Decides the Product

Automotive Workstation Setup
01/

Data, Not Engineering

Automotive projects rarely fail on engineering. They fail on what the data turns out to permit.

02/

Vehicle Data Sources

Vehicle data comes from three places and they are not interchangeable. OEM telematics APIs give you what the manufacturer chooses to expose, at their latency, under a commercial agreement and usually with rate limits. Aftermarket OBD devices give you more control and hand you the hardware problem. Fleet telematics providers sit between the two. Each choice changes what the product can do, and discovering the limit in month three means redesigning around it.

03/

Dealer Systems

Dealer management systems are the same story. The vendor publishes an API reference; what your specific contract tier permits is often considerably narrower, and export frequency is sometimes the only realistic integration path.

04/

Parts and Fitment

Parts is its own problem. Fitment data — which component fits which vehicle across model years, trims and regional variants — is the part that defeats generic commerce platforms. Get it wrong and you ship the wrong part, which costs more than the margin on the right one.

05/

Manufacturer Programmes

And manufacturer programmes run on validation cycles nobody accelerates. We plan around them rather than promising through them.

///AI FOR AUTOMOTIVE

AI for Automotive

Vehicle data is abundant and mostly unused. These are the models that attach to a number the business already reports: downtime, claim cycle time, trade-in accuracy, parts availability, leads converted.

Damage estimation from photographs, for insurers at claim, rental fleets at return and dealers at trade-in.

Learn More

Component failure prediction from telematics and sensor data, so vehicles come off the road on your schedule rather than theirs.

Learn More

Harsh braking, speeding, cornering and fatigue detection, feeding insurance pricing and fleet safety programmes.

Learn More

Trade-in and listing prices from condition, mileage, specification and live market data rather than a static guide.

Learn More

Lead qualification, test drive booking and service scheduling, including the enquiries that arrive after the showroom closes.

Learn More

Vehicle and parts stock planning across a dealer network, by model, variant and location.

Learn More

Data pipelines, annotation tooling and perception model support for OEM and supplier programmes.

/// HOW WE WORK

How We Work on Automotive Projects

STEP 1

Data access audit

We establish what vehicle and dealer data you can actually reach — which APIs, at what granularity and latency, under which agreement, and where a device or an export is the only realistic route. This comes first because it determines what the product can be.

STEP 2

Free solution architecture

Data sources and integration approach per system, architecture, hardware requirements where relevant, and a costed delivery plan. Yours to keep whether or not you build with us.

STEP 3

MVP in 30 days

A working MVP against real vehicle or dealer data, not sample files. Where OEM agreements or DMS vendor approval are pending, we say how much time they add before starting.

STEP 4

Production build in 90 days

Full build with integrations, monitoring and rollout plan. Dealer network deployments are phased site by site rather than switched at once.

/// FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually. The major DMS platforms expose APIs or scheduled data exports, though what is available varies considerably by vendor and contract tier. Older on-premise systems often mean database-level extraction or file exchange instead. We establish what your specific installation exposes during discovery rather than assuming from vendor documentation, because DMS integration access is frequently narrower than the API reference suggests.

It depends on the source. OEM telematics APIs give you what the manufacturer chooses to expose, usually with rate limits and a commercial agreement attached. Aftermarket OBD devices give you more control and hardware responsibility. Fleet telematics providers sit in between. Each has different latency, granularity and cost, and the choice shapes the product, so we resolve it before design rather than during build.

Accurate enough to triage and estimate, not to settle unseen. Models identify panel damage, severity and likely repair operations from images, which speeds up claims and trade-in valuations considerably. Structural damage, mechanical faults and anything behind a panel still need physical inspection. We build it as a first-pass assessment with a human decision on anything above a value threshold.

All three, and the constraints differ sharply. Manufacturers bring long programme cycles, supplier ecosystems and strict validation. Dealer groups need systems that work across sites with central control and local flexibility. Aftermarket and parts businesses are closer to complex commerce, with fitment data and trade pricing tiers the hard part. The engineering discipline is shared; the timelines are not.

We support programmes rather than build autonomy stacks. That means data pipelines, annotation tooling, model evaluation infrastructure and the engineering around perception work. Building a production autonomous driving system is a different undertaking requiring safety certification and domain specialism we do not claim. If that is what you need, we will say so.

For a defined scope we target a working MVP in 30 days and a core production build in 90. Automotive extends when OEM data access agreements, DMS vendor approval or hardware integration are involved, and manufacturer programmes run on their own validation cycles. We flag which apply during the free solution architecture.
