Event Badging, Accreditation & Access Control
Credentials for everyone on site — attendees, staff, media, crew and contractors — printed on demand or loaded onto wristbands, with every zone and gate enforcing who can go where.
TRUSTED BY TEAMS
Every person at an event needs the right credential, and every gate needs to know what that credential allows. Attendees, VIPs, speakers, media, staff, crew and contractors all need different access, on different days, to different parts of the site.
Sodio builds event badge software and access control systems that handle it: accreditation and approvals, badges printed on demand, RFID wristbands, access zones enforced at every gate, lost credentials cancelled instantly, and a full record of who went where.
/// IS CUSTOM RIGHT FOR YOU?
When a Check-In App With Badge Printing Is Enough
For a conference where everyone has the same access, a check-in app that prints badges is usually enough. Custom badging and access control earns its place when access becomes a matrix of people, places and times.
A check-in app is enough when
- Everyone can go everywhere
- Only attendees need badges
- Staff check badges by eye
- Security records are not needed
Custom access control fits when
- Different roles need different zones, days and hours
- Staff, media, crew and contractors need accreditation and approval
- Gates, turnstiles and wristband readers enforce the rules
- You need a full record of who entered where, and when

/// WHO GOES WHERE
Event Access Control Is a Matrix of People, Places and Times
A typical large event issues many types of credential, each with its own access. This is an example; every event sets its own.

///AI IN ACCESS CONTROL
Where AI Helps Access Control
Access control produces a constant stream of scans. AI helps spot the ones that do not look right, and keeps zones within their limits.
Catching shared credentials
The same credential used at two gates within minutes, or to re-enter without leaving, flagged to security straight away.
Zones that never overfill
Occupancy predicted from scans and schedules, so busy zones are managed before they reach their limit.
Photo checks for accreditation
Photos submitted with accreditation applications checked for quality and matched to the applicant before badges print.

/// COST AND TIMELINE
What Drives the Cost and Timeline
A working credentialing and access system typically arrives within 30 days, with a production version in 90. For a fixed event date, it is planned backwards from build day, when the first contractors arrive, with a full test of every gate beforehand.
The cost moves with six things: how many credential types and zones there are; badge printers and wristbands; gates and turnstiles; accreditation workflows and checks; offline working at gates; and how many people pass through at peak.
/// FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Event badge printing software designs and prints the badges attendees, staff and guests wear on site. It pulls each person’s details from registration, applies the right template for their role, adds a QR code or chip for scanning, and prints the badge on demand at check-in or in advance for VIPs and speakers.
Accreditation is the process of approving and issuing credentials to the people who need more than a standard ticket — staff, crew, media, performers, athletes and contractors. Each applies, is checked and approved, and receives a credential that lets them into the areas their role requires, and only those.
Each wristband contains a small chip linked to the holder’s ticket or credential. At the gate, the holder taps the wristband on a reader, which checks the access rules and lets them in. Wristbands are hard to pass on once fastened, and they can also be used for cashless payments on site.
The lost badge is cancelled straight away, so it stops working at every gate, and a replacement is printed at the help desk. The old credential’s history stays in the audit trail.
It makes sharing difficult. Photo badges let gate staff see who a credential belongs to, wristbands are hard to transfer once fastened, and the system rejects a credential used to enter again without leaving first, or used at two gates within minutes.
No. We build the software that designs, issues and checks credentials, and connect it to the badge printers, wristbands, scanners and turnstiles you choose. We can recommend hardware that works well with it.
